Re: A42 junction 12 to 11 survey work
We're writing to inform you of some upcoming essential survey work along the A42 near Packington.
We'll be carrying out survey work on the A42 northbound and southbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 11. This is part of planning for future resurfacing, which will help deliver a smoother, safer carriageway for road users. We'll work overnight whilst traffic volumes are lower, from 9pm to 6am from Monday 20 October to Monday 27 October 2025, Monday to Friday. To carry out our work safely we'll work under the following phases:
• Monday 20 October - A42 northbound junction 11 to 12 lane closure including no hard shoulder. Total closure of A42 junction 11 entry slip.
• Tuesday 21 October - A42 northbound junction 11 to 12 lane closure including no hard shoulder between junction. Total closure of A42 junction 12 entry slip. Our ref: A42 junction 12 to 11 survey work
• Wednesday 22 October - A42 southbound junction 12 to 11 lane closure including no hard shoulder. Total closure of A42 junction 12 entry slip.
• Thursday 23 October - A42 southbound junction 12 to 11 lane closure including no hard shoulder. Total closure of A42 junction 11 exit slip.
• Friday 24 October - A42 southbound junction 12 to 11 lane closure including no hard shoulder. • Monday 27 October - A42 southbound junction 12 to 11 lane closure including no hard shoulder.
During full closures, fully signed diversion routes will be in place. More information regarding our closures and diversions can be found on our website: https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/east-midlands/east midlands-maintenance-schemes/
We'll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
