Voting in the district and parish council elections on Thursday 4 May is different this year with the introduction of photo I.D.

Anyone who wants to vote in the local elections will need to present an accepted form of photo I.D. Every voter needs to show photo I.D. to be able to cast their vote in the local elections on Thursday 4 May.

Photo I.D. that is accepted includes:

• Passport • Driving licence • Blue badge • Proof of age card with PASS mark • Certain travel concessionary cards • National identity card • Biometric immigration document • Defence identity card.

No Photo ID

Don't worry – you will still be able to vote. You'll need to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. You can apply online at voter-authority-certificate.service.gov.uk or you can complete a paper application form and send to NWLDC.

To apply for a Voter Authority Certificate, you will need to provide your: Name | Address | Date of birth | National Insurance Number.

You'll also need to submit a photograph with your application, with similar requirements as for a passport photo.
