NOTIFICATION OF ESSENTIAL MAINTENACE WORKS A42, A453 and A50 Resurfacing

National Highways will be carrying out essential safety maintenance work at various locations along the A42, A453 and A50.

During our scheme of work, we'll resurface sections of the carriageway, refresh road markings, install high friction surfacing and repair any drainage gullies as required. Once completed, all road users will benefit from improved road conditions and safety as well as a smoother driving experience.

When will the work take place?

Work is due to start on 20 March 2023 and is scheduled for completion by end-May 2023. The work will be carried out in sections as outlined below:

• A42 Finger Farm Island and the Northbound Entry Slip road at Junction 11 • A50 Westbound between M1 Junction 24 to A50 Junction 1

• A50 Eastbound from A50 Junction 1 to M1 Junction 24A

• A453 Northbound between M1 Junction 24 to A52 Clifton Bridge • A453 Southbound between A52 Clifton Bridge to M1 Junction 24 Please note that all our planned roadworks may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

How will the work affect traffic?

To keep our programme for these works as short as possible and to minimise disruption to the local community, residents, businesses and road users, we'll work under full carriageway and slip road closures between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday. During these closures fully signed diversion routes will be in place, which have been agreed with the Local Authority.

How will the work affect businesses and residents?

We'll make sure that access to businesses and residences is maintained wherever possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will do our very best to complete the work as quickly as possible, keeping disturbances and noise to a minimum.
